The Problem:
Each year, approximately 920,000 red-listed animals in U.S. shelters are euthanized due to overcrowding, lack of adoption, and too few available fosters. Of these, it is estimated that 390,000 are dogs and 530,000 are cats (ASPCA). Animals on the red list—or under consideration for it—must be adopted or fostered by a specific date, or they will be put down.

While shelters and rescues do their best to delay these heartbreaking decisions, without more fosters stepping up and more adoptions taking place, thousands of animals will continue to die unnecessarily.

The Red List Rescue Objective:
The goal is to use strategically crafted social media posts and messaging to connect with potential adopters, fosters, and create partnerships with out of state facilities who can assist our life-saving efforts. Once found, Frost Fund further manages the coordination of transport, financial resources, and shelter-to-adopter communications. We also offer discounted virtual and in-person training for red list adopters through partnerships with certified trainers.

The Red List Rescue Method:
Frost Fund leverages its relationships with local news anchors, journalists, influencers, and various social media platforms to amplify the reach of Red List Rescue posts, ensuring they get in front of as many people as possible. We then vet every interested party to find the right fit for the shelter animal being advocated for. Frost Fund collaborates with specific overcrowded shelters in Southern California, ensuring that all animal background and medical information shared in our posts is accurate and up-to-date.

Our team also visits each red-listed animal at the shelter, capturing organic content and sharing daily updates with our supporters via Instagram stories, keeping them connected to our mission every step of the way.

Testimonials from Red List Rescue team members:

Helping get Marvin – a 7 year old German Shepherd off of the red list was so incredibly rewarding. I cannot fathom the thought of animals getting killed on the daily. Brittnei is an incredible advocate for animals and is constantly pouring her heart into them – she is the type of leader that all rescue teams need! She has inspired me to start helping and getting involved with saving red listed animals. Join this team – you will never regret it!

Hearing Marvin’s story touched my heart, and I felt so heartbroken about his situation. I wanted so desperately to help, but as a college student, the most I could do was share on social media and raise awareness with help from Brittnei. I was so grateful for Brittnei’s constant updates, and so relieved to hear he was finally rescued! Brittnei’s passion is so prominent in the work she does to help inspire action & awareness. Many pets would not have access to the safety & protection they have now without Brittnei, for which I am so thankful.
