LIGHTNING

RED LIST RESCUE ANNOUNCEMENT!! Frost Fund family – it is time to save the sweet life of 9 month old Lightning who has been in the Long Beach Shelter for over a month now. Lightning was found wandering the streets of Long Beach and brought into the shelter early last month. He loves toys, knows basic commands, gets along well with other dogs, is friendly, and loves to listen and learn. Lightning is incredibly smart and could be use for many different training purposes. He will be neutered soon and is now on the urgent list at the shelter because he is experiencing high kennel stress. Nine months old is way too young for a dog to be euthanized because he wasn’t given a chance. And due to his breed, Lightning is definitely not fit for a shelter long term.

Lightning – like many other dogs in shelters – just keeps getting over looked. He is 59lbs and needs to gain some weight. According to the volunteers who work closely with Lightning, he is full of joy and energy in the play yard and when he gets on a leash and outside the shelter – he walks slowly and is eager to stay close to his handler. Lightning is full of potential and needs a new adopter or foster to bring him home quickly before he undergoes any further shelter stress.
