Meet Mayfield! He Has Been in the Shelter for Over 380 Days!

This week’s Frost Fund Fridays for Furever Homes with Brittnei and Alex Prange is all about Mayfield — and you guys, this gorgeous husky has been waiting way too long.

Mayfield has spent over 380 days in the Long Beach Animal Care Center. That’s more than a year without a family, without a yard to run in, without a person to throw his favorite tennis ball. He’s a 4–5-year-old neutered Siberian Husky with one blue eye, one brown — and a heart full of love, curiosity, and playful spirit.

He’s the perfect age: not a puppy, not a senior. Just a ready-to-go best friend who needs a little time to decompress and feel safe. Mayfield is high energy and would make an amazing adventure buddy — whether it’s running, hiking, or long walks (his favorite). He’s also toy and treat motivated, loves fetch, and yes, will bring the ball back.

From amazing volunteer Stephanie, who’s been working closely with him: “Mayfield is an independent dog. He loves long walks, loves to play fetch, and will return the ball to you.” “He’ll need time to decompress — but he’s a great buddy.”

He came in with another dog and has been interactive with other pups in the shelter. He just needs the space, love, and consistency of a home where he can breathe again. Please help us get him there. Share this post, tag someone who’s been looking for a loyal companion, or better yet — come meet Mayfield at Long Beach Animal Care Shelter and see his calm, sweet energy in person.
