Animals can end up in shelters for all sorts of reasons and each have their own unique challenges they’ve had to endure. While the circumstances these animals may have been extreme at times, their ability to adapt to a normal life should not be underestimated. This is where Frost Fund comes in to support these animals through their transition into loving homes, and one such example is Harley.

Harley is a rescued German Shepard that at one time found himself in an animal shelter after his owners were arrested leaving him homeless. Harley’s situation is a good example of an amazing animal being subjected to challenging circumstances that aren’t their fault. Due to his life experiences, Harley has some behavioral issues that have made it difficult for him to find a suitable adopter, which has led to him being in danger of euthanasia. However, there is good news. Rescue 22 Foundation has offered Harley a free training program to work through any behavioral challenges while Frost Fund continues to advocate for Harley’s adoption by sharing updates with his training progress.

While it is understandable as to why someone would be wary to adopt a rescue with a troubled history, it should be made clear that many animals are capable of bouncing back and overcoming their rough past. In the example of Harley, he is an amazing dog that just needs some extra help to smooth over his anxious behavior, he just needs the right family to give him a chance. Over the past 4 weeks Harley has been excelling in his training and has improved his impulse control, relationship with his handler, and walking on a leash.

Frost Fund has been supporting Harley through his training process every step of the way.
