Hailee’s Life Saved! 16th Red List Rescue Video and Update

Hi Frost Fund family! I can’t even begin to tell you how busy I have been! Between juggling multiple rescues, managing amazing interns, planning our Fall fundraising event, and trying to apply to jobs myself, things have been so busy.

However, I wanted to provide you with a few exciting and delayed updates of our recent rescues! So, over the next few days, take a few minutes if you would like to read the posts I will be sharing and watch the heart warming videos/pics that they include.

To start things off – let’s talk about, Hailee! If you follow us on Instagram (which is the best way to stay updated) then you already know about sweet Hailee girl. Hailee had such a dynamic and interesting rescue story. She was brought to my attention by an incredible volunteer at the shelter and we went into action to try and help. Unlike many of the other German Sheps we have advocated for, Hailee is very mild tempered and more introverted. Finding the perfect adopter was crucial so that she could have time to decompress and feel the love she so deserved.

Hailee was found wandering the 710 freeway last November before being taken to Long Beach Animal Care Services. She remained in the shelter until we were able to help save her life just a few weeks back. Just a day before we were about to transport her to an adopter in New Jersey (and after endless meetings and phone calls on my end trying to figure out how to make this happen), I received a thought provoking email from an amazing human named, Chris. Chris had seen our Frost Fund/Hailee’s news feature on Good Day LA and decided to reach out to us! He even shared, “I see these animals in need often, but something about Hailee just drew my attention and I knew I had to reach out.” We are SO glad he did!

After a serious phone call where I informed Chris he had about 6 hours to get to the shelter and meet Hailee before she boarded her ride for New Jersey, he figured out how to make it happen. Here is the catch – Chris was hundreds of miles away working on his plane with a friend when we had our call! He is a pilot and had committed that day to working on things flight related and wasn’t sure how he would make it happen… Until he decided to simply FLY in to see Hailee!! This is when I knew he was the real deal, if not already based on his kindness during our phone call.

So, I scheduled with an LBACS volunteer to meet Chris and his friend once they landed his private plane at the airport just 10 mins away! I then drove up to meet him and make sure everything went well with Hailee. And after a slow, kind, patient meet and greet, it was a deal sealed! I drove Chris and his friend to the airport where they then flew back to where they started and drove home to prepare for Hailee’s arrival and pick up 2 days later. Ever since, Hailee and Chris have been growing wonderfully together and he is truly giving her the life she never had – and possibly never would have.

We highly recommend you take a quick watch at the short video below to see more about her rescue and Chris! Hailee is our 16th Red List Rescue and we couldn’t be more thankful to everyone who helped to share her.
